Which neighborhood to choose for a month in Bogotá: Chicó, Zona Rosa, Chapinero Alto, Usaquén and Parque 93

For a month in Bogotá, it makes sense to choose your neighborhood based on your regular journeys. Being close to work, a university or your medical appointments can improve your experience more than staying next to the latest trendy restaurant.
Among these five options, Chapinero Alto suits a routine of cafés and trips toward the city center; Zona Rosa concentrates shopping and nightlife; Chicó offers residential and business areas; Parque 93 makes it possible to walk to many places; and Usaquén works especially well for those with activities in the north.
Before comparing: the names overlap
Parque 93 is part of the Chicó area. We distinguish them here because living next to the park means a different routine from settling several blocks farther away, among residential buildings and offices.
Zona Rosa includes the shopping area around Andino, Atlantis and El Retiro; Zona T is its pedestrian core. When we talk about Usaquén, we mean the historic center and its surroundings, not the entire extensive administrative district.
There are also important differences within Chapinero Alto: the slope, the distance to Carrera Séptima and nearby shops vary from one address to another.
Safety: compare the block and the time of day
There is insufficient evidence to declare any of these five areas the safest. Statistics by administrative district cover much larger territories: the ProBogotá Comprehensive Safety Index 2025 provides context, but cannot rank these neighborhoods or predict what happens outside a building.
When choosing accommodation, check specific details:
- Walk the route between the apartment, the supermarket and public transport.
- Observe lighting, commercial activity and foot traffic at dusk.
- Avoid checking your phone next to the roadway.
- When returning late, request a ride from inside the establishment.
In Zona Rosa, pay particular attention when leaving bars. In the residential stretches of Chicó and Chapinero Alto, check how activity changes when shops close. In Usaquén, visit during the week too: the Sunday atmosphere does not represent the entire week.
Chicó: for a residential and work routine
Chicó is practical if your meetings are around streets 90 to 100. It combines housing, offices, restaurants and parks, although the experience depends considerably on the address.
Walkability and cafés. You can organize a walking routine, but check where the grocery store and your regular café actually are. Being near the Museo del Chicó does not offer the same connection to the Autopista Norte as staying closer to Carreras 15 or 19.
Transport. Proximity to Carrera Séptima, Carrera 15 or the Autopista changes the available options. If you will use TransMilenio daily, calculate the walk to the station first.
Price. Listings checked in October 2026 include small furnished properties at around COP 2,8 million per month, including building management fees, and one-bedroom apartments at COP 5,7 million. These are asking-price references, not confirmed rates for thirty nights.
It is a good choice for working from home and going out in the north. Check nighttime activity on the block before booking.
Zona Rosa: for shopping and going out on foot
Its main advantage is the concentration of amenities: Andino, El Retiro, Atlantis, restaurants and bars are all within a compact area. You can combine shopping, meals and meetups without arranging a separate journey for each activity.
Walkability and cafés. Zona T makes walking easy. For a café outside its busiest core, Azahar Nogal is at Carrera 9 and Calle 79A.
Transport. Bus corridors and access toward Calle 85 station are available, depending on where you stay. Check the exact distance: being near Andino does not mean being next to TransMilenio.
Price. As a reference for the surrounding area, a furnished one-bedroom apartment in El Nogal was found listed at COP 6,62 million per month, including building management fees. This is not a quote for monthly accommodation throughout Zona Rosa.
If you are looking for a specific option, you can check Atlantis 102, an apartment for monthly stays in Zona Rosa, and request terms for your dates.
Before paying, ask which way the bedroom faces and check the noise on a Friday night.
Chapinero Alto: cafés and a more convenient connection to the city center
Chapinero Alto suits those who want to explore restaurants and cafés and travel frequently to universities or activities in the city center and along the Chapinero corridor.
Walkability and cafés. There are pleasant walking routes, but the slopes matter. A short distance on the map can feel different when returning with groceries. Amor Perfecto has a branch in the area; check how long it would take you to get there from your accommodation.
Transport. Carrera Séptima is a useful bus corridor. TransMilenio is farther west, along Avenida Caracas: measure the entire route and consider the uphill walk back.
Price. Among the listings checked is a furnished studio in the Castillo–Chapinero Alto area for approximately COP 2,46 million, including building management fees. Confirm the minimum rental period and any additional services.
It is an option to start comparing if you want to spend less on housing than in the more commercial areas of the north. The exact address has a major impact on quietness, slopes and access.
Usaquén: for those whose daily life is in the north
Usaquén’s historic center brings together restaurants, cafés and a walkable setting around the square and Hacienda Santa Bárbara. It is particularly convenient if you need to reach Fundación Santa Fe frequently or have activities nearby.
Walkability and cafés. The historic core lets you combine coffee, food and a stroll. Catación Pública is a local reference point. Outside that core, check crossings and distances: a listing in the Usaquén administrative district may be very far from the square.
Transport. Carrera Séptima has buses; reaching TransMilenio’s trunk routes requires traveling west. For frequent visits to the city center, compare the journey during rush hour.
Price. A one-bedroom apartment in Santa Bárbara was found at COP 3,4 million per month, including building management fees, offered furnished or unfurnished. Confirm which option the price applies to and whether a one-month stay is allowed.
Parque 93: convenience for a compact routine
Parque 93 suits those who want to alternate work, restaurants and coffee without constantly leaving the area. Its advantage over other parts of Chicó is the concentration of establishments around an easily recognizable landmark.
Walkability and cafés. Azahar is at Calle 93B #13-91 and Amor Perfecto at Calle 93B #11A-84. The official Azahar locations also let you check its El Nogal branch.
Transport. There are buses along nearby corridors, but the park does not have a trunk-route station immediately beside it. Check the connection toward the Autopista before assuming everything will be within walking distance.
Price. Near the park, at Carrera 17 and Calle 93A, a furnished 39 m² apartment was found for approximately COP 3,3 million per month, including building management fees. The rental period must be confirmed.
How to decide and finalize your budget
- Chicó: prioritize proximity to offices and a residential routine.
- Zona Rosa: choose a concentration of shopping, restaurants and places to go out.
- Chapinero Alto: compare cafés, budget and connections toward the city center.
- Usaquén: prioritize commitments in the north.
- Parque 93: aim to handle much of your day on foot.
The furnished rental listings in Chicó show how much size and rent vary. An advertised monthly price may require a longer contract: always request the total for thirty nights, including building management fees, utilities, cleaning and additional charges.
In 2026, the unified fare for TransMilenio and local buses is COP 3.550. Forty-four journeys cost COP 156.200. Include that expense when comparing a cheaper home with one that allows you to walk.
